CIFC Health Primary Care program is a unique place for you to train in Primary Care. We provide a robust clinical foundation in general Internal Medicine with enhanced training in Primary Care, resulting in an overall excellent balance of outpatient and inpatient medicine. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that promotes resident wellbeing, enhances learning, and prepares our residents to grow into well rounded practitioners and healthcare leaders.
At CIFC Health, we believe that training in Primary Care must be well rounded, practical, and longitudinal. We have designed a dynamic curriculum that promotes holistic learning, leadership, and growth. Our goal is to create balanced training in inpatient and outpatient medicine. We partner with Danbury Hospital and Griffin Hospital for robust curricular inpatient training. We conduct our outpatient training at CIFC Health, Nuvance Primary Care and several other area practices such as VA Primary Care, and Griffin Faculty Primary Care practices. A sizable portion of the training time is spent on longitudinal primary care blocks (approximately 4 months in PGY2 year and approximately 6 months in PGY3 year), with the goal of allowing residents opportunities to see patients in follow up care so as to experience dynamic patient management with the ability to effect changes in their overall health. Curriculum includes exposure and training in outpatient procedures and point of care USG.
Our residency program is affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital and offers optional elective experiences at Yale.
In addition to clinical education, we value service and advocacy for our patients and community. Training is done primarily in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Communities (MUCs). CIFC Health’s service area provides Residents with opportunities for a wide range of clinical experiences.
