Yes, all PGY-1s are preassigned to the Danbury Hospital track or the Griffin Hospital track. They will do their core inpatient blocks at that hospital and their continuity clinic at CIFC Health at 120 Main Street in Danbury, CT. Electives will be done at their hospitals, a community site, or at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Applicants are required to pass the USMLE Step 3 exam before the end of their first year.

The CIFC Health Internal Medicine Residency Program accepts candidates Out-of-Match and does not participate in NRMP Match (information is current as of October 2025, but subject to change)

You must be eligible for an ECFMG Certificate in order to apply. We require that you submit your ECFMG Certificate through ERAS before June 30th. We are required to have an ECFMG Certificate on file for every IMG intern who is accepted into our training program.

No, we do not sponsor H1-B Visas.

Yes, we do sponsor J-1 Visas.

We offer 10-11 PGY-1 new intern positions a year.

We have multiple sites, including:

  • CIFC Health at 120 Main Street, Danbury, CT, our primary site, for outpatient training and primary care block rotations (Medical Home Blocks)
  • Danbury Hospital for inpatient training and some electives
  • Griffin Hospital, for inpatient training and some electives
  • Yale New Haven Hospital for some electives
  • VA Primary Care for Primary Care block rotations
  • Nuvance Health primary care
  • GFPP Primary Care
  • Others

Applicants must pass the USMLE Step 1 exam and achieve a score of 215 or higher on the first attempt.

Applicants must pass the USMLE Step 2 CK exam and achieve a score of 230 or higher.

U.S. clinical experience is preferred but not required.

We accept applications through ERAS. As soon as ERAS opens, we start reviewing applicants and inviting them for interviews until all of our interview slots are filled and/or recruitment is completed.

A strong interest in Primary Care. The program's robust training is tailored for Primary Care and not subspecialty fellowships.

We currently have 90% IMGs.

Applicants will be notified that they will be invited for an interview after all applications are reviewed in October, November and December.
