Canadian TRAP ATTACK - LAKE SIMCOE

HOW IT WORKS

For you anglers, who have fished this tournament series in the United States, will have a good idea on how this program works.

You will find the Canadian TRAP ATTACK- LAKE SIMCOE tournament has a few rule changes (read rules).

Anglers fishing the Trap Attack series (in the USA) for the North American Ice Fishing Championship will not receive any points towards the Trap Attack championship from this event. This is a non qualifying event.

For anglers who are not familiar with the Trap Attack tournament program, please read on………

The Trap Attack tournaments are run on generally the same venue as the summer tournaments are.

In the Canadian TRAP ATTACK- LAKE SIMCOE tournament anglers fish from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Teams will then check-in at the tournament sight and weigh in their 15 biggest live perch.

All anglers must attend the rules meeting on the Saturday (Mar.8th, 2007)
night prior to the tournament on Sunday, Mar. 09th, 2007

Buying your ticket early, as you will be released from the shore by team number every 10 to 15 seconds apart, with No. being first & team 150 being last.

You can buy your Trap Attack entry by clicking on “Sign Up Here”. You then have two choices:
1/ print out our entry form and mail it in with a check to us.

2/ Buy your ticket, on-line with your credit card, (fastest way)

EQUIPMENT

In this tournament you’re on your own.

When the temperature goes down and the wind starts to blow on Lake Simcoe you will need to be well prepared for a comfortable stay on the ice.

THINGS YOU SHOULD CONCIDER:

 Clothing

You will need warm parka, floater suit, or best an Ice Armor Suit, boots Sorel brand is best, and good quality water resistant gloves and maybe a spar par, proper head wear.

Transportation

You will need to supply your own transportation from shore out to your fishing location, ATVs, Snowmobiles, Argo, are OK. You can also walk if you wish.

You must have a SOLID tow bar when towing anything behind a motorized vehicle on the ice. It’s the law!

On ice equipment

You can fish sitting on a pail or for more comfort take a portable ice shelter. A good brand to consider would be a Fish Trap or Clam, made by clam corp.

A good quality heater can help make your stay more pleasurable. Check out the
“Mr. Heater- My Bubby.

You will also need an ice auger, a gas/hand 4 inch to 8 inch auger will do.
Strike Master is our brand of choice.

REMEMBER: you will need a 5 gallon pail

Ice Fishing Equipment

Bring your favorite ice fishing rods, lures, and live bait.

In this tournament you can only use one rod at a time.

TOURNAMENT DAY

  Tournament Morning

Teams will assemble at our pre-determined lake shore location (the tournament sight) for inspection & check in, which will start at 6:30am. BE EARLY

After inspection teams will assemble on the lake shore for blast off, starting at
8:00am sharp.

Teams can fish anywhere in our pre-establisher fishing zone (see map in RULES),
which is approximately 15 sq. miles of great perch fishing.

Teams must abide by all tournament rules from blast-off to weigh-in and must have the appropriate equipment to keep their perch alive (5 gallon bucket will do).

By 2:00pm all teams must be back at our check-in at the tournament sight, or a penalty of half a pound per every five minutes late will be incurred.

Teams will submit their pail of 15 perch for weigh-in and receive a weigh-in, weigh slip. When all teams are weighed in, the results will be released,

Payouts will be determined by the team’s weights, with the heaviest weigh being first, second heaviest being second and so on down to tenth place.
